Your sales copy is the most important aspect of Internet Marketing regardless of what you are selling.
Period!
If your copy isn’t compelling or provocative or important, forget it. You won’t sell anything.
I’ve just started reading “Click Here to Order” by Joel Comm. Actually, I’ve never heard of this guy before, but Amazon.com ‘told’ me I would like his book, so I clicked and ordered.
Turns out it’s pretty good. Really good if you are somewhat geeky like me. It starts off with a brief history of the Internet, sounds boring, but not so. I’ve learned a lot so far.
Most importantly, that your sales copy (or copywriting) is everything. I already knew that, but It’s always good to be reminded. (Over and over again!)
That brings me to Lorrie Morgan-Ferrero. She taught me everything I know about writing good copy.
I may not be the best writer on the web, but I’m about a gazillion times better than I was before I met her.
That said, here is a great article for beginners.
Follow these steps to begin your online copy testing and tracking:
Step 1: Create Online copy Variations.
You never know what words are going to get you the best results right out of the gate. So you should have several versions to test. Create online copy variations in online copy by varying online copy headlines and online copy descriptions. Include multiple offers in online copy and keep the online copy target audience in mind. If the targeted audience is budget minded, make sure to give cost information in online copy which can be immediately identified in online copy. Also include the product’s benefits and features in online copy. If the online copy targeted buyer needs an extra incentive to purchase the product, make it prominent in online copy.
Step 2: Testing and Tracking Online Copy Sales.
After you have created online copy highlighting the benefits of your online copy product, you must begin testing and tracking online copy sales. This is easy when working with online copy because webmasters track orders on different website pages with online copy. The capability to track orders from unique websites with online copy is also useful. Work with your webmaster with your online copy to ensure testing and tracking online copy results tell you exactly where items are purchased from in online copy. When analyzing testing and tracking online copy results, you can easily identify the top online copy sales produced by online copy. I love using my shopping cart (www.redhotcart.com) because it has ad tracking built right in as well as tons of tutorials.
Step 3: Analyze Online Copy Results.
If you have set up your online copy testing and tracking to pinpoint where your online copy sales come from in your online copy, you can identify what online copy works and what online copy doesn’t. Identify which online copy yields the highest sales figures in your online copy. These numbers show exactly which online copy has proven successful with your online copy testing and tracking.
Step 4: Edit Your Original Online copy.
If you find in your analysis of online copy testing and tracking that certain pages of online copy are successful, keep that online copy. However, do not stop your online copy development or online copy testing and tracking efforts of online copy. You must continue your online copy efforts and create additional variations of successful online copy. You should also tweak unsuccessful online copy. Keep in mind while tweaking online copy that your goal is to get as many online copy sales from online copy as possible from your online copy efforts. Your aim is to continue to tweak online copy and continue online copy testing and tracking.
When it comes to perfecting online copy, never settle with your online copy. Keep your online copy efforts continual, and you will generate increased online copy profits by perfecting online copy and online copy testing and tracking.
